We have a thread of this nature going on in our forums, thought I'd expand it over here. I am looking at upgrading my GPU and HDD, so looking to see what the best set up for money seems to be.

I have...

i5 3570k @ 3.40 GHz
AMD HD6850 OC (from the box)
8Gb (value) ram
Couple of HDDs (no SDDs yet)

Loading time is pretty average too, vary rarely getting into the servers before the count down.

I'm getting about 40fps on low/medium with massive drops to sometimes single figures (GPU is running at about 55-60 degrees). Not looking for solutions, just want to have a perv under the hood so to speak.

70-100 hovers around 90ish. Update stopped the random crashes and gave a big FPS boost, runs real smooth, more than any other game. The only thing is map loading takes 2-3minutes with normally only a few seconds before the spawn timer hits zero.

Everything maxed out(Resolution Scaling at 100 and no motion blur) @1920x1080, never really drops below 60, usually averaging about 70-80 fps

I find hiking the resolution scaling up to 200 drops my frames down to about 15-20.. Time to get another 7970 OR I might just pick up a 280x which can CFX with the 7970 :D

Hey, Ive been thinking of upgrading my 4gb of Ripjaws ram for awhile, I know that back in the day it was always recommended to keep 2 slots free, is it worth going for 16gb (4sticks) or just get 2 new fast sticks for a total of 8gb?
In other words is 16gb necessary or will 8gb do?

The free slots is to do with Memory Channels if I remember right, running in Dual Channel gives better performance I think.

I'm usually one of the first into the server

Everything on ultra and highest (I think, pretty close to) I turned on adaptive vsync in nvidia panel thinger

Also turned off the motion blur shit, I turn it on for SP though cause I like the immersion.

Thinking I'll turn my settings back down again though cause it's fuckin hard to see people now.

Know there is prob a particular section for this but....

Have conned the mrs into letting me do a cheap upgrade to my PC  :)
To be more precise  she we decided to spend a whole lot on her so we I decided to spend a wee bit on myself.

***sighs and remembers a simpler time when he was the master of his own universe***

Anyway....

Currently my CPU is the main bottleneck running at 99% while using only 70% of my Ram and my 2xHD5770's are only using 50-60% of the GPU and 75% of their Ram.
Am I correct to assume that in my case an SSD would make a negligible difference?

Am considering getting the items below

AMD FX8350 $274.55
8gb Gkill ripjaw DDR3 1600  $108
Asus Sabertooth Motherboard $290.50

$673.05 plus $20 to courier to Sth Island

Will upgrade vid card in near future and then SSD

Hold up there tiger. Before you jump into solution mode, what exactly is the problem? What CPU do you have? When does it run at 99%? What are you doing in order for that to happen? I have an i5 3570k (Ivy Bridge) which is fine 99% of the time, then when BF4 is going, it loads up to 95-99% too. How many FPS are you getting on a 32 player server vs 64 (64 strains, a lot)?

SSD will get you into the game quicker than all the other mofos (ie if you're quick and don't piss around you get a pretty good selection of vehicles if they're on the server). Pretty much it'll change your who computer experience. Need to restart? pfft, don't bother going to the toilet! It'll be back on before you lift the toilet seat. Need to open excel? Don't even have time to read the ribbon (2010).

Things just get done, quick smart... Personally, depending on your CPU, I would go for an SSD over any upgrade at the moment. Unless you have a Pentium 2 or something...
