I was going to get it lowered a little bit before i put photos of it up - as it looks silly in its current stance.

All going well the drop will happen next week

Hey anyone who knows bit about turbos and RB engine. I have a rb20det but am wanting to get a bigger turbo for it. I was looking at buying a t3/t4 but have been told it's to big and will make my 20det perform worse because of lag or something? Is there anyway to get around this. And I've been told to get a garret turbo because it goes good with the rb20dets. If anyone knows about these kinda turbos, bit of help would be good. Also would I have to change my ECU from the stock 20det one to chipped or something like that?

You will get lag issues as t3/t4 spools up and will need a chipped ecu/re tune. All do able if you want to spend some money but its not as simple as just bolting a bigger turbo on.  Sure someone in the know will be able to sort you out. Or head over to the Skylinesdownunder forum.

Plastiguaged up my mains and big end clearances.
removed old pistons from rods, send new pistons to be weighed and balanced.

Shit, sounds like you've had some backyard mechs say "yeah cuzzy, wack a t3/t4 topmount on dat she be aight". Point of a 20det is to spool early and for a certain period, you don't want to be peaking boost @ 5k and raping it up to redline, shit will go pop.

Try a DSR430, or even a 25det turbo. Full boost just after 3k, all you need. Remember it's only a 20det, 2 litre pocket rocket, not a 26dett etc. Small motor can only handle so much.

Yeah you will have to get a tune or a chipped ECU, not a biggy. IMO, I'd look at bigger injectors, aftermarket fuelpump etc before deciding to get any "bolt on" jobbies that might make it look neat, but deteriorate the engine over time and not be used at its full potential because the other components are holding it back.

EG, I'm running 550cc injectors and an HT-18 turbo (common batty setup), and last time it was dyno'ed, it peaked @ 190rwkw @16psi. Daily tuning @ 12psi, and it's got all I need for a 20det. If you wanted to go "faster", 25det is the way to go, or a 1jz/2jz etc.

Out of interest, can anyone recommend the best place for me to get a RB25DE engine? Preferably with lower km's

Its just to straight swap into my R33 (RB20E Manual) but because I only know the basics of mechanics I don't want to get fucked over through some dodge trade me seller.

Hit up Joe Kyle, he will most likely be able to source you one, or point you in the right direction.

He will also wire it up, do everything for you. Awesome guy when he's not pushed for time. Does all of my work, and a majority of the guys over on the SDU forums where I frequent.
