Buy, Sell Or Trade / WTB Laptop for uni work
« on: November 28, 2014, 08:04:42 pm »
Hey guys, any of you in Christchurch want to sell a laptop suitable for general use doing uni work, watching videos and stuff, no gaming. My girlfriend has started uni and wants me to pick her laptop.
Or should I advise her to go new?
How much she be expecting to spend?

I'm still playing the occasional round of BF4, A little of the pre-alpha release of Shroud of the Avatar, a little Command and conquer 4 (but probably for not much longer as I'm not too keen on it).
I also have a few games I was playing in the last few months but lost interest:
System shock 2
Unepic
Stargunner
FTL
Septerra Core
Sir, you are being hunted
Borderlands 2
Divinity Original Sin (finished it twice, excellent both times, just not keen for a third)

I also played a bit of SanctuaryRPG for old school ascii fun, but it got old after a week.

Lots of games on my to do list but nothing grabbing my attention right now, currently I'm just reading a good book.

Bad weekend for cars, I bent my drivers door on my mini catching it on the side of the garage while backing in! Also feeling sad.

Fairy, watch out with hot lemon and water it will eat through your teeth faster than drinking coke. Gotta rinse you mouth out with water afterwards, a tip from someone who knows all about expensive dentist bills.

On a personal note to contribute, I've cut out nearly all fizzy drinks from my diet, just on the health standpoint, and with the medication I'm on I cant have more than 1 or 2 beers a week, I think I've lost a wee bit of weight as a result.

I'd like to have the reliability of a physical cable to my computer but the rest of the place can be wi-fi. Had not considered no land-line but it should not be a problem.

Hey guys I just bought my first house and I'm needing to get set up with internet. Starting from scratch, got no router or anything yet. Checked and there is no fibre anywhere near my house so will be looking for a regular internet connection. I'm mostly going to be gaming and streaming tv as I've just bought myself a smart TV, so would probably need a high data cap or unlimited.

Who in chch is proving good speeds and I'm not going to be paying through the nose for it, as I'm pretty poor at the moment.

Advice is appreciated, just got possession the other day and kinda overlooked this until now.

yea my voting took 2 mins, I must have avoided the busy times

It seems like at the moment the media coverage is less about politics and mostly about everyone calling each other names. I'd much rather hear about policies and economic plans. Can't stand to watch election coverage at the moment.

I also watched the whole thing

I did note that he says in the comments that he's going to use it for PC gaming too. If not he can give it to me if he likes.

I dont know if it works for your sutuation, but I used pass the parcel and set up their address as the pickup point and my address as the delivery address. All you need is the box dimensions and get them to print out the postage label, as you are paying the bill you know exactly what the postage costs, and they pick up from any old street address. Worked for me when I bought some stuff off trademe and the seller would not post as it was too bulky and would only let me buy it if I arranged the delivery.

If you know what it weighs and dimensions it will give you a quote.

Also of note, it was my first and only time I did that and I had to create an account, but was easy. Cheaper by heaps that going direct through some other courier companies which I tried first.

If I burp I feel a bit sick
.....
drunk 1L of chocolate milk

That'd about do it alone!

I often drink 1L choc milk with no problems. Had no ill effects when I woke up the next day.

96
So much worse, still feeling the ill effects. I think it's because I have so much hot chilli chemicals mixing in my stomach. If I burp I feel a bit sick with how it tastes, and I've eaten dinner and drunk 1L of chocolate milk since.

Ate a Hell Pizza dragon pizza today, would not do again. At least I got my money back and a pair of undies.

I had a look all through the web management page and I could not find any log or error report. It has not been as bad recently, it's connecting for about 7 hours at a time on average and up to three days one time. If you know exactly where I should be looking in the web management let me know. I tried to find out myself through help and the web but no luck.

I had some cool teachers when I was in school like 10 years ago, that actually were interested in their students and were good teachers (public school). anyway this is a shitty topic, go talk about girls, bacon, cars or some shit, or even better eating bacon with girls in cars. So serious in here at the moment.

Yea I don't think we have one of those. So if we installed a master splitter would the house have to be re-wired to have the separate internet/DSL and phone jackpoint in one of  the rooms?
