im a pb tech fan boy. Happy to support the sponsors... if there are any?
That's my department, and I'm working hard on it. If you have me on Facebook, I'll happily chat to you about things.
Just a note guys, we're really happy that what happened to ON3 took place. You have 5 very driven individuals who have always worked well as a team despite the strange way we all came together. We are all working hard on our various allocated areas of Get Some to make this site and related an awesome set up. We are well advanced on many elements, and you'll love what the year will be bringing.
Issue for me is, it looks like its all cloud based servers so don't know how well lil' old NZ with cope.
OH GOD. Say its not so.....
The thing that killed COD = Match making
It needs dedicated servers.
It will have dedicated servers. Just not hosted by providers - Microsoft's deal with EA is that they will provide servers on the XBOX Cloud Server system which is global. HOWEVER, this is the first game that will be using this global system specifically for game servers. I won't bore you with the details, but if it works, it will work well.
I'm keen as shit on this game, but also very wary. Call me cynical, but I think we've seen a lot of excitement for AAA titles that have just ended in farcical disappointment in recent years.
When our TradeMark registration is complete, we'll be able to put that next to our name, and thus identifying ourselves as an entity with a letter or two surrounded by a circle. Thanks for the feedback dude.
It is with pleasure we finally bring to you Get Some, version 1.0; an all new home for your gaming, tech & general discussions, and your provider of New Zealand's best game servers thanks to our major sponsor, Vodafone. A number of months in the making, we appreciate your patience if you’ve been tracking progress. If you’re new to the site, welcome, and we hope you’ll settle in and enjoy the incoming ride.
First things first, who are you!?
Get Some is a wholly independent entity, Get Some Limited. The five directors are names you’ll already know if you’ve been around the gaming scene for an amount of time: Craig Martin, aka Craigorsarus; Evan Hughes, aka DarkVirus; Jas Singh, aka .osiRiS; Jordan Gardiner, aka prolax; and myself, Craig Nimmo, aka Arseynimz. We have a number of years under our belts in the administration of gaming and related sites, and are known in the industry locally. With our combined knowledge & experience, we will be supporting the existing vast number of games in the marketplace that require servers, as well as looking to support future game releases where server or other gaming facilities are required in New Zealand. In addition to our experience, we are pleased to confirm the support of Vodafone New Zealand. A well known & key player in the New Zealand Internet Service Provider space; a long time gaming supporter, they continue to support growing areas of the internet and are working with us wherever possible to ensure New Zealand gaming is well equipped.
So what is this Get Some you speak of, and where do I get my allocated portion?!
Get Some will bring you simple yet informative news, reviews, interviews, information, discussion and events to, from, in, and around New Zealand. We are a gaming and technology biased site, and will bring you premium events from experienced hosts, solid gaming experiences from stable infrastructure, and a local spin & angle to technology & gaming related news, reviews and information.
The site in it’s current state is a functional but minimal version of what is to come. Version 2.0 is already underway, and with this will come a news and front page portal as well as other gaming and media related features over time. We want the best for NZ gaming, and with our experience we intend to bring this to you over the coming year to make sure 2014 is the year you truly “get some”!
So please settle in, introduce yourself, get acclimatised and start or join the discussion. If you have suggestions or requests, we want to hear those too; if you find any problems, please let us know.
Ah! strange that mine hasn't change yet, must be some browser cache shit here at work perhaps. I do not see any reference to Arsey/Miley's twerk off ? Loving the Kiwi as fuck summer holiday font though! LETS GO TO THE BEACH WANKERS.
The banner font was all DV's idea, and I thought it was pretty nice, so we rolled with it - everything else is explained in the above thread or fairly obvious.
FF should have always been on for BF3 servers. Yes it's annoying but it got rid of halfwits quickly with an active admin team or tk kick count. Would love to see it for BF4 on all servers.
GetSome has needed the fat trimmed from it since it's inception. It's time to kill off CS(or downsize) etc and leave a TF2 and BF community, would also make it more attractive for a new hosting partner if it comes to that for space/cost(or even community paid hosting, if we can keep existing hardware). Can you let us know early if GetSome isn't negotiating for exclusive hosting of BF4 servers so others can get onto it?
The other option is talking to egor at GP and retiring GetSome, not ideal (as they don't host many servers themselves these days) but in terms of surviving long term they have the contacts and userbase to do it.
A WILD ARSEYNIMZ APPEARED, HE USED FORUMS, IT WAS SUPER HOLY SHIT AWESOMELY EFFECTIVE.
Hey dudes, BF4 is being discussed and looked at - presently there is no RSP discussion, and this usually does not happen until around now (based on the previous 4 years we have been dealing with DICE and their BF or MoH releases). We have already signalled our interest and intent to host. We are currently working through/awaiting details on what will be needed to host the servers. We are acutely aware that these forums are quiet, and looking at options - just a heads up, yes there will be changes, and I would love to hear from anyone with ideas by email (craig at GetSome etc). There will be a lot of changes. We loves you all, and your faces.
Spoiler :
Currently we have plans afoot for a variety of noise around updates.
However, we are still aware that the site needs some work. Please bear with us on that.
Let everyone know that all efforts are in progress to nail this shit good a proper.
We got this in so many ways , just be patient and feed back to me ASAP.
:love_heart:
Spoiler :
Oh don't spoil it for others :afro:
Spoiler :
no it's not hard, but you gotta know if you want to understand
If I wasn't so tired when I replied, I would actually have facepalmed further........
Also, I wasn't kidding, I rang home, got my 9 year old on, convo went like this:
Me: What's three times three? Emily: Huh..... Nine Dad...... (I'm pretty sure she said "duh" here - little shit she is). Me: kk, so what's the first letter of nine? Emily: Um, is it N?
TBH - I'm keen on them just for the name. A friend ordered something from them on Tues, and it arrived today, so they're reliable and he has no complaints.
I've spent many hours fiddling with my android and you do need far too much time to get it to exactly how you want it... However... after you have had one android phone and then move to your next one you'll be able to do everything much quicker. Nice to see the review/thoughts and cheers for putting it on front page Arsey.
What you've said here is exactly the thing about Android that both frustrates me and excites me. I dislike that I have to work like a developer to my hardware working to the point I want it at, but yet it also excites me that I can do that work, and be rewarded hugely for not only the current handset, but likely many in the future. It is also a thought I have about Tablets, and my iPad vs. Android Tab argument with myself continues to rage lol.
Paul at Playtech has just said that Playtech will be happy to assist anyone with service requirements, and will provide discount vouchers for anyone with a Christchurch address later this week and next week when the couriers and airport are back in to it again. I'll let you know.
Also, just been watching the news, and it's ugly in the city centre, hope there are no GetSome'ers in the mess......
