I know, the cost does put me off it. It's the support from developers I want not wether it is popular or not, it just happens to be that developers like money and so will develop for the more popular platform. I do not buy products for status otherwise I wouldn't be looking at headphones that are not beats by dr dre. For the last time I do not want or need a 'proper' mobile computer, tablets have the benefit of lasting entire days without charging, are light, able to complete the day to day tasks, are more comfortable to use in any position and I have my desktop which is my 'proper' computer.
The surface pro does MASSIVE support in terms of apps it runs but wether or not Microsoft cans it or not depends on wether it sells more than the Kin. I will probably wait for it to come down to $750ish.
Continue trying to troll berg, takes a lot more than that to annoy me.

iOS has advantages? Yeah but you missed the part where they don't need proper computers. Yes huge support for each device from Apple and devs, tablet apps don't look like shit and for those that are hopeless ease of use. The support from developers(official apps and JB) is a major selling point for me and the reason why I switched from an android tablet. I'm considering switching to a surface pro if it doesn't fail like the RT.

The power cord wiggled out of your ipad's psu? No was watching it on my desktop because of the 5.1 and 1080. I watched the rest of the series on my tablet.

But by switching to other platforms you lose any advantages iOS has, through jail breaking I can have all the benefits of the platforms. Until Android tablet apps become significantly better and it stops being so fragmented it would take days for me to get it exactly how I want it(been three weeks since I got my android phone and I still don't like the configuration). Jail breaking and installing all the tweaks I want can seriously take 10 minutes or less.

The majority of people buying notebooks are paying $1500, an android tablet or the cheaper iPads can be a third of that. I got the most expensive model(because I need the 3G and 64GB) which was at the time $1200 ish so for $1000 it was a steal. Most people would only require a 16GB wifi only tablet, they only need it to browse and type occasionally. I am not a fanboi, have an android phone and had an android tablet. I find the play store apps aren't as refined but it is open, iOS would be useless to me without a jailbreak and the devices have more support from devs.

The iPad is nice as a general purpose replacement for consuming media, small documents, emails, Skype, managing servers, browsing the interwebs etc because it is so portable and the battery life is insanely long. I personally load the tablet up with movies, music and buy a small data pack when going down to the bach for the summer. With a laptop you have to either sit, stand or half lie down half sit but with a tablet you can be in pretty much any position you like.
I have no real reason to keep the netbook at the moment as the raspberry Pi has been a very good replacement for coding. If anything intensive needs to be done I can use my gaming desktop. My mates have been sinking between $1000-3500 on notebooks when I got the iPad 2 64GB + 3G for $1000 on the Playtech Boxing Day sale. Tell me which is more cost effective? Bear in mind that they could get a surface pro($1200) if they wanted Windows or they could get a iPad mini($479) if they wanted to do simpler stuff.

I used the 64-bit nightly release of Firefox before they killed it because of ABP. Opera uses less mobile data but Chrome syncs browsing history, sessions, bookmarks etc

Got LG P500 dirt cheap ($25). I flashed the new baseband + CM 10.1 on it but if I set a pattern, PIN or password lock on it I can still gain access by sliding the lock icon to the edge of the circle and will not have to enter the pattern, PIN or password I set. Is it just a problem with the nightly version of CM?
EDIT: NVM it just started working after a couple of reboots

How many people have been killed by cats? And Vs dogs? And when people aren't killed by dogs theres all those attacks that are a burden on our health and ACC system with many claims every year resulting from dog attacks.
Only an idiot would think hunting dogs don't attack kiwi, they have special aversion courses for dogs (with very mixed results!) to protect kiwi.
Feral cats have a preference for rats and other vermin (like rabbits) over birds, effective protecting them from the most prevalent of predators.
And even if everything Gareth Morgan says is true, no I don't want more birds of any sort, bird shit is revolting and is everywhere already. Then theres the health risks bird flu, etc. Depends on the animal, some dogs won't hurt a fly and my neighbours cat will try to attack anyone within 10m

I have an issue with dogs that provoke cats and shit on footpaths.
Should introduce foxes to kill feral animals, foxes are cute and cuddly. The dogs produce a lot more noise, the number of dog owners that pick up their animals droppings is much bigger than the cat owners.

Not all dogs and cats will attack birds/kiwis so a blanket rule of getting rid of either is stupid as it is much easier to register, microchip, keep on property and give them a bell. I do have a problem with cats that provoke dogs and shit on adjacent properties.
