dredg - Quotes

Porcupine Tree - Sentimental (Acoustic)

Both songs and both albums are win. Both dredg's 'the Parish, the Parrot, the Delusion' and Porcupine Tree's 'Fear of a Blank Planet' = such good concept albums commenting on modern society. BTW, Steven Wilson = god. Wilson's voice is so good on the album, it's sets the mood so well as you can tell with the above vid. Oh how I would orgasm if say Steven Wilson and Brian Eno teamed up together.

well, not this version, but the one from Red Hot and Cool, with a female vocalist, but sounds much the same otherwise, apart from maybe the FLAC compression and the popping in my wonderfully comfortable and entirely competent Panasonic in-ear buds.

A little something different:

Mainstream artists before they became mainstream and thus record execs fucked over their sound:

Amy Lee and Ben Moody = were very talented musicians. Amy Lee composed the above for her school choir at age 18 and Ben Moody wrote My Immortal at age 15. Both sold out and tbh, both aren't nearly as good without each other. gogo 'band chemistry'. :/

Avril Lavigne, up and coming country singer >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 'punk' Avril Lavigne. The other rare pre-fame country song 'Two Rivers', has too much of a stereotypical 'young female teenage country singer demo tape new to Nashville' sound to it. Avril Lavigne was discovered singing country. Tbh, she could of easily been what Taylor Swift is now years before Taylor Swift (only less talented).

Listen before pre-judging based on their mainstream sound.

Oh btw Grim, different music for different times / moods / whatever / to cater for my quote 'fucked up' music taste = need more than 16GB for portable use

pre Mainstream Evanescence >>> any of their mainstream BS. It's not even a contest. It owns. Evanescence fans who aren't tone deaf and have a clue = basically the same consensus. Honestly, it's over 9000 times better. Lyrics, musical composition, vocal composition, production, the works = over 9000 times better. Above tbh, isn't even one of their better underground songs. Yay for all their pre-Fallen stuff = legally free.

Led Zeppelin - You Shook Me

Seriously fallen in love with this band lately. Never even really listened to them before but last week or two i've come to realise how much better they are than this current day crap.

I strongly recommend you get your hands on "The Song Remains The Same" , which is a film of Zep live in concert. There is also an album of the same name which has the best live versions of Whole Lotta Love, Moby Dick, and my special favourite Dazed and Confused, among others, you will ever hear.
